Business News Today: Tariffs Helping Businesses? What We Know – Give Me a Break

Trump's "America First" Was Always a Scam. Who's Surprised?

So, Trump's tariffs were supposed to help American businesses, right? That was the whole sales pitch. "Bring back the jobs!" "Make America great again!" All that jazz. But now these same businesses are suing him over it? Give me a break. Trump says his tariffs will help American businesses. So why are they suing?

This whole thing stinks of the usual grift.

Levi from MicroKits spells it out: tariffs are screwing up his supply chain so badly he might have to move his business out of the country. Brilliant move, genius. How does crippling small businesses help anyone but Trump's buddies?

And let's be real, this ain't just about Levi. We're talking about a Vermont cycling gear company, some toy sellers in Illinois, even a wine importer in New York. These aren't exactly the titans of industry Trump pretends to care about. They're just trying to survive.

The Swamp Strikes Back (Again)

Schwartz, the wine guy, nails it: "I was shocked that those with much more power and money did not step up." Where were the Fortune 500 companies when this crap started? Probably too busy counting their offshore profits to give a damn about Main Street.

Offcourse, there's always some clown who benefits. Greenblatt from Marlin Steel is waving the flag, saying tariffs are a "blessing for the American factory worker." Okay, great for him. But what about everyone else paying higher prices for his metal baskets? Is that "fair"?

He's patting himself on the back for snagging a $1.3 million job, but what did the tariffs cost other businesses? What's the net gain here? I'm guessing it ain't pretty.

Economists are saying the same thing. This ain't exactly rocket science.

Who's Really Paying the Price?

Strain, some economist from a conservative think tank, says manufacturers are worse off. Shocker. Turns out, when you jack up the price of imported materials, it hurts the people who use those materials. Who could have seen that coming? (Everyone.)

And then there's Cassie Abel, who leveraged her house to finance her outdoor apparel company. "Every tariff increase means the risk of losing my home," she says. So much for "America First," huh? More like "Trump First, Everyone Else Can Go to Hell."

Nepstad, who sells coffee brewing equipment, literally wept when a court briefly struck down the tariffs. I mean, I get being stressed, but weeping? Maybe it's time to find a new line of work, buddy.

Levi, though, he's got the right attitude. He's just a citizen using the courts to challenge the government. "Let’s figure this out,” he says. But is anyone in Washington listening? I doubt it.

So, What's the Real Story?

This whole thing was always a scam. Trump promised to help American businesses, but all he did was create chaos and uncertainty. Some people got rich, others got screwed, and the rest of us are left picking up the pieces. Color me shocked.
